Deepa-Raya

(Mom and Aunty Mary just before we left for the Auckland Malaysian Society Deepa- Raya celebration..under the watchful and glowing eye of Quan Ying.)

And so I got my share of nasi, chicken rendang, lamb korma, garlic chicken, sambal ikan too! Yeah! It was sooooo good to have Malaysian food again! And it was fantastic too! A couple of east meets west dishes? Asparagus (my pee didn't smell so bad this time..) with dried prawns (aka heh bee), bread and butter (I swear some Malaysians had it with the curry), some salad which I didn't touch and to Aunty Mary's dismay, choc fudge cake, lemon cheesecake, fruits with cream but no (can you believe, at a Malaysian function?), no kuih muihs? Too much la! I wanted the nice squarish dessert wrapped in pandan leaves with two layers with sengkuang inside also don't have! Alamak! Kenapa macam itu? Oh well. At least we had fun watching the belly dancer strut her stuff, the Bollywood chicks doing their thang, the anticipation of the three lucky draws which we, not surprisingly, walked away with nothing, and the darn table quiz on Malaysia which we were so sure we aced it! Also, tak dapat hadiah! A few of the questions below:

1) Name Malaysia's first PM (easy lah tu..sejarah comes in here)
2) Which is the smallest state (girls remember? Perlis kan?)
3) Tun Mahathir is from? (Kedah la!)
4) KL tower is the third or forth highest?
5) An unfinished castle somewhere I couldn't remember? (we were stump on this, but Mary R form our table said it was Kelly Castle)
6) What is ABC? (I actually thought it was air batu kacang, tapi bukan, it's air batu campur)
7) Pearl of orient? (Penang!!)
8) Muslims fast during which month? (Bulan Ramadan)

(Aunty Mary and I) And so that was last night. I did feel a bit guilty though. I have my english exam on Wednesday and I still feel like I've got no progress with 'Men, Women, Sex and Darwin'.. plus, I'm working at ten later. Better go now! Bye!
