secret santa. secret out
Today was a great and funtastic day at work. A week ago, Tasha, who I used to work with at Mens Shoes came up with the Secret Santa idea and I jumped at the idea. So in the excessively overcrowded department on the mezzanine, Harry, Tash and I got all hyped up and started recruiting people for our Secret Santa game. We got a total of 12 people from those working in the basement to the top-most shop floor, with participants (or Secret Santas if you will) from every floor. Rather good coverage of the entire Smith & Caughey's crew I think. But anyways, so we wrote down the names and chucked them into a Tony Perotti sack and drew names from the sack. After making sure everyone was happy with their 'Santee' (what do you call someone who receives presents from Santa? Oh well.. that would do ya.)Me and Tash then started the guessing game. Basically we were trying to find out who drew whose name out. Things were made easier with Harry and Tash spilling the beans between them. But yeah, it was good fun and made the last three hours of that Sunday speed by.
So one week later today. Secret santas poured in to the mezz and pressies were stashed in the stock room. And around afternoon tea time, after a couple of requests for their presents, Harry and I, Santa and his helper went to give out gifts. There's really more joy in giving people their presents than receiving.. the laughter and smile on people's face is a wonderful sight. The gifts that were given by majority of the Secret Santas were rather meaningful and some I must say, real smart. I think after the initial fear we had that some people might forget their gifts, everything turned out well and we had a pretty awesome day today.
Mustafa's Secret santa who wasn't a so secret Oliver (remember the twin I got confused with?) gave him this shirt with his initials embossed at the back of it. I thought that was quite cool. Mark got this 3 minute egg timer, supposedly to advice him, 'Timing is everything'... randomess pressie was awarded to Tasha.. a 'I love you' teddy by her Secret Santa.. hehe.. and I got a couple of flexible pencils, a box of Hersheys cookies & creams (my fav!!) and a pair of Xmas earrings (the last time I checked, I only have one viable ear piercing left..)
And as the title says, the identity of my Secret Santa was revealed after a couple of guessing games, helpful hints, sheer intellectual knowledge and personal relevation. All in all. All was good. :) Merry Christmas everyone!
