one word to sum it up: awesome
Yes, that's right... everything was AWESOME this week. Week five (shoot, week 5 already??!!!) of semester two kick started with our Biochem test and after last minute worries and rote learning of protein structures, most of us were treated to a relatively OK test. After Barling's heavy hinting on a comparison essay and Vision being the only special topic, it wasn't surprising that a lot of us prepared and were praying that those came out... and it did. For Shaun Lott's bit, pKa was the essay baby.. so all was good. The MCQ lab questions were not that straight forward though.. and only one protein structure recognition came out..after spending HOURS memorising the 20 amino acids.. arghhh, never mind, at least now I know I won't embarass myself if asked to draw the structure of proline if I ever do a research program on it.. haha
And so, I spent Mondy late night bumming. I really should have caught up with lectures after putting my other four papers on hold to prepare for Biochem. But no, decided to take it easy.. and then came Tuesday. Had lunch downtown with Mom and her collegues at this real cheap yet delicious Yum Cha place.. we ate heaps, but the bil came out to about $30 for the four of us! Okay, note to myself: must pay a second visit. So not much studying done that day too. Then came Wednesday. With my six hour stretch, I managed to complete three of my Pharmaco labs which are all computer based and so that makes two papers which I am up to date with.
Thursday. Weather was horrible. Howling wind, wet foot paths, my busiest day. But despite all that, it was a grand day. Finally got some genetics' concept cleared up and for the grand finale of Thursday, Marilyn, Malsha and I went to the annual med school revue: Desperate Housesurgeons. Also one word to sum it up: AWESOME. Man, they were a talented bunch alright. Enjoyed most of it and in particular Todd's (Aaj, he was the hottie who had his interview with us, remember? drool...) version of 'Wonderland'.. more like, your rectum is a wonderland. The lyrics were all altered but instead of it sounding awfully wrong, the whole thing actually had a nice flow and though some didnt make sense, it was hilarious... hehe now Marilyn wont ever listen to her favourite song the same way again... The whole show was satirical, what with med studets making fun of law students and the whole engineering bunch.. but all good natured humour right? I really enjoyed the heart beat effects the hip hop dance group had. Basically, as all profit is donated to the heart foundation, the theme kinda revolved around the heart.. go 'lubb dubb'..
Then the last day of the week. Friday. Got about 18 mins of relistening to Don Love (the genetics lecturer) before I was summoned to Albert Park for piccies. Like professional piccies.. all thanks to our professional photographer aka Tony who was ready to get down and dirty (literally) to snap some really gorgeous pictures.. Albert park was looking good, and though we weren't dressed in our best,I must say most of the pics looked real good. Will share them once I grab them of Tony k?
So. I have work lined up for the weekend. Finished Love's genetics and will be doing neuro tomorrow. And oh yes, another thing. This poor girl, who is incidentally Indah's ex flat mate got hit by a car on Symond's Street today. Apparently she was texting while crossing. Not sure whether was it a hit and run but I think it must have been bad because when Mal, who told us about it first, said it was as if she was having seizures... hope she's fine. And which reminds me, so many people cross the roads like that, not at the lights. Must be careful. It is not worth it guys, cross at the lights... neuro lectures can wait. Me included. Dont want dad saying I told you so... be safe.
Till the nest post. BYE
