Lubb dubb: A heartbeat. A legacy. My story.

Time flies by. Reality sinks in, but memories stay, as crisp as freshly washed linen, and as clear as what is written here.

dilation of pupils

I apologise for not updating this thing. But as usual the start of the semester is usually chaotic if not stressful what with all the admin stuff to deal with, new theatre locations, textbooks to purchase and course guides to get familiar with. And I can't say I've mastered all that just yet, but right now, amidst my damn period cramps, I find it comforting to be expressing my last few days in words.

And so the second year begins. The second year of my Biomedical Science degree. Initially, it was a bit daunting coming back. I didn't know what to expect, was afraid I'd melt in the throng of strangers. But going to Uni to collect my course guide for Biosci 201 on Friday was a wonderful experience. Got to meet up with a lot of old mates and just getting back set the whole stage up again.

And so Monday came and went. Spent the first hour of semester one in the wholly new Owens G building in the Centennial- just a flash word for a very flash lecture theatre. As it only opened this semester, we had the privilege to be not the first, but amongst the few first classes to be held inside there. And ah, the smell of new things sure smell good. Started off with biosci 201. no comments there yet. Apart that it is quite boring.

Then had to rush to Grafton, where the medical faculty is located in under 15 minutes for lab. Was exhausting I can tell you. But also, I'm quite unfit, so this is actually good traning for me. Had our Intro lab for anatomy and got to go visit the restricted Anatomy Museum- the very controversial location of last year's Biomeder forum..hehe. This place is the place. It is great. I think I can pitch a tent and go live there with all the 1000+ pots of real specimens- suspended organs of all sort. I especially loved the forensic section. Super cool. Also later we went to the Anatomy lab where we got to see a cadava. Now, I won't say much about it. These things are often kept private and confidential and we were told not to relate everything to the public world. Not such that it is anything secretive, but some people might not feel as confortable dealing with these issues as others. So for those of you who are interested, just remind me to tell you the next time we meet up.

Taking medsci 205 this sem too. It's basically a Physiology paper and damn, it looks hard. Hope it'll all go well.

Had en eye exam today at the Optometry clinic. Spent about two hours there. Thank God it's an all clear. My floaters aren't a sign of any retinal detachment. Thank God.

Lantern Festival's coming up. No guys, not the Mooncake festival, but a celebration to celebrate CNY. It's marked by the Uni people selling food along Princes Street and Albert Park was decorated with red lanterns, animals, bamboos when I last saw it yesterday. So yeah, think it may be a rather grand festival. It'll be this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Going back to work this Sunday. Damn. Not a week back and I've spent nearly $400 already. Blame it all on expensive textbooks, bus rides, lunch and club fees...hm...
